Treasures of the Esterházy Princes
   13.12.2006 - 31.12.2007

Description:
The Esterházy family's private collection can deservedly be counted among the most important aristocratic treasuries of the Baroque period, and it is the only Hungarian aristocratic collection of this period which survived the vicissitudes of later centuries largely intact...The exhibition will include about 130 objects: goldsmith works, jewellery and ceremonial weapons, luxurious textiles and costumes, as well as large-scale portraits of Esterházy family members. Most of the works on display were made in the 16th and 17th centuries, and their creators were among the best masters of European Mannerist and Baroque decorative arts.
