The history of Auberge De Kieviet dates from 1916 when, after 232 years, a tearoom was opened there. During their Sunday drives in their carriages, the well-to-do citizens of The Hague enjoyed a visit to this romantic stopping place.
Now days, Auberge De Kieviet offers you all of the comforts you can expect from a 4-star hotel. For a relaxing and enjoyable stay, both for business purposes and for a relaxing weekend or mid-week away from home.
The hotel has a cosy lounge and an attractive and highly acclaimed restaurant. When the weather is pleasant, you can sit on the patio, where you can enjoy the sun and our excellent catering.

Food & beverage

Focusing on the season, the A la Carte Menu changes 4 times a year. The weekly changing menu is called Menu de Kieviet. Seasonal specialties like asperges and Christmas will also be prepared by our cook. Only fresh food will be used in the kitchen of Auberge de Kieviet. Besides, one can choose from many different kinds of wines. You will definitely enjoy a dinner in this cosy, comfortable restaurant, where all employees are dedicated to offer you a pleasant stay.

The tastefully decorated rooms are spacious and comfortable. They all have their own bathroom, a telephone with a direct outside line, cable television, radio, a hairdryer, internet access and a safe. Dry cleaning, laundry and, of course, room service are all available at the hotel.

Area information

Hotel-Restaurant Auberge De Kieviet in Wassenaar is located in the province of South Holland in the center of the luxuriant and picturesque town of Wassenaar. The surroundings form an oasis of tranquility in the middle of this busy part of the Netherlands. At just a stone’s throw from the hotel, you will find the well-known ‘Wassenaarse Slag’, a unique and beautiful dune area that leads to the wide expanses of the North Sea beach that is only a 10-minute walk from the hotel.
There are many ways to relax in these surroundings. You can bike or walk in the woods and over the dunes or you can visit one of the many nature reserves. At the reception desk, you can find maps of the ‘Hollands Duin’ and you can arrange for bicycles so you can explore the surroundings. Or cross through the tulip fields and visit such places as Sassenheim and Lisse. And of course a visit to the Keukenhof is a must in spring!
You can also play golf or tennis or go swimming close to the hotel. And just 10 kilometers away are cities such as The Hague, Delft and Leiden with their numerous museums, theaters, sights, monuments and shops. Plus the famous tourist spots of Duinrell, Drievliet and Madurodam.
In addition to the beach at Wassenaar, you can also decide to take a drive to the boulevard at Scheveningen, where you will find Holland Casino, SeaLife Scheveningen and the Sea Museum.

Great parking lot in terms of size.

Staff hard to find on arrival. Low water pressure in bathroom. Cold remains of scrambled egg at breakfast at 9 a.m. No staff. Parking lot full of holes which themselves were full of water due to heavy rain. Overall: management attention required!

Location and nice sized rooms. Very helpful staff.

Very expensive restaurant which did not provide a child friendly menu. In addition you could not sit in the restaurant without breathing in second hand smoke. No coffee making facilities provided in the rooms.

De bediening (na bestellen van een lunch, diner) was nogal traag. Er werd langs elkaar heen gewerkt: of ze kwamen niet vragen wat je wilde, of er kwam een aantal mensen na elkaar vragen wat je wilde.

kamer zeer proper; voorzien van het nodige confort; zeer vriendelijk personeel

4 sterren hotel maar toch ontbreekt een minibar op de kamer ; zeer goed restaurant maar relatief duur, zeker de wijnarrangementen. Bediening in restaurant kan beter : men is bvb nooit komen vragen wat we wensten als dessert; we zijn dan na een half uur uiteindelijk maar vertrokken uit het restaurant

Die Lage und die Zimmergröße.

Keine Minibar,keine gläser im Zimmer,Frühstücksbüffet war nicht dem Preis entsprechend,Kaffee stand sehr lange in Thermuskannen und schmeckte dadurch alt,Tapeten hingen von der Decke(renovierungsbedürftig),Fußboden war kaum noch zu erkennen(Parkett)durch lange Jahre abnutzung. Also da gibt es viel zutun!!!!!!

Geografiska läget var utmärkt,lugnt vackert och fridfullt.hotellets storlek var rätt i denna miljö

Vi var missbelåtna med personalens vilja att rätta till felaktigheter t.ex.ej fungerande värme,och ej fungerande saftybox.
