Situated in Scotland’s first National Park, this charming guest house is set high above the village of Tarbet, boasting spectacular views over Loch Lomond and towards the western side of Ben Lomond.

Set in nearly 7 acres of private gardens, less than one hour from Glasgow, to the north-east side of the house is an attractive woodland which is frequented by deer and other wildlife. This includes a beautiful waterfall which feeds various deep pools on the East Burn, on its way to Loch Lomond.

Tarbet House was cleverly designed to take full advantage of the site’s elevated position and the stunning Loch views. With this in mind, the lounge and dining areas both have floor-to-ceiling windows, stretching the entire length of both rooms. The views from here are truly breathtaking. Patio doors open out onto a south-facing, decked sun terrace.

Cancellation

If cancelled up to 28 days before date of arrival, 30 percent of all nights will be charged.

If cancelled up to 13 days before date of arrival, 60 percent of all nights will be charged.

If cancelled up to 2 days before date of arrival, 80 percent of all nights will be charged.

If cancelled later or in case of no-show, the total price of the reservation will be charged.

Children and extra beds

Children cannot be accommodated at the hotel.

There is no capacity for extra beds/cots in the room.

Deposit

100 percent of the first night will be charged on the day of booking and is non-refundable.

Food & beverage

Breakfast is served in the dining room downstairs between 07:30 and 09:00 - please inform staff of your preferred time the night before. If you prefer breakfast in your own suite this too can be accommodated, or perhaps you prefer to take breakfast al fresco on the sun terrace.

A varied menu, including a full Scottish breakfast as well as lighter alternatives, is available. Vegetarian and special diets can be catered for by prior arrangement.

No evening meals are available at this time, allowing you to explore some of the attractive restaurants in the area. The staff at Tarbet Guest House will be happy to suggest a number of options, as well as securing table reservations for you.

Room information

The hotel boasts tastefully and individually furnished double bedrooms, each one with a king-size bed and bathroom with a bath and separate walk-in shower. Each suite has stunning views of both Loch Lomond and the Ben Lomond Mountain.

Area information

Tarbet Guest House is set in stunning scenery less than an hour from Glasgow. Where the lowlands meet the highlands, this is an area of staggering natural beauty.

Nearby attractions include:

Ben Lomond (8 km / 5 miles) - reaching a summit of 973 metres (3,194 feet), this 5,369 acre mass is viewable from the hotel and reachable via a ferry service from nearby Inverbeg.

Hill House (26 km / 16 miles) - the finest of Charles Rennie Mackintosh's domestic creations, The Hill House sits high above the Clyde, commanding fine views over the river estuary. An exhibition in the east wing presents the work of new designers.

Kilchurn Castle (54 km / 34 miles) - situated in Argyll and built c1550, Kilchurn Castle was much enlarged in 1693, incorporating the first purpose built barracks in Scotland. The substantial ruins are some of the most picturesque in the country with spectacular views down Loch Awe.

The view

The hotel does not cater for people with food alergies (gluten free) even if warned in advance. Also decor very dated.

We were well looked after by Paula and her husband who could not do enough to help us & make us feel welcome. Our room was fantastic with stunning views of Loch Lomond & the accommodation was 1st class & was more like a self contained flat with our own balcony - just brilliant. Our hosts provided us with excellent information on local tourist attraction which we would never have visited.

There wasn't anything that we did not like about the Tarbet Guest House & we would highly recommend it.

The views from windows over Loch Lomond.

Thought that 16.00 was a late time to accept guests... As we were in transit, we arrived at 13.00 and this would have been more convenient. Sorry that they did not serve an evening meal.

When you arrive the first thing that grabs you is the spectacular view, stunning to say the least. Paula is very welcoming and friendly. Our room was amazing, we had a one bedroom suite at the end of the house, it had floor to ceiling windows so that you could enjoy the view, I just wanted to sit and look at it all day. Breakfast was fantastic, everything you could want.

Tarbet house is an excellent place to stay, with a breathtaking view of Loch Lomond and the accommodation is excellent. The owners are more than helpfull in every aspect.

Paula and her husband were lovely; both were very helpful and friendly and keen to make sure we enjoyed our stay. The view from our stylishly decorated rooms was spectacular, both our bedroom and living room had wall-to-wall, floor-to-ceiling windows looking out over a stunning view of the loch. I really can't think of anything more I could have hoped for from our stay.

Just a tiny point; the tv in our room had poor reception and we were only able to choose from two channels which had both picture and and sound. However Paula has a good selection of DVD's which were free to borrow so perhaps even to mention it is to be somewhat picky.

The owners were very friendly and helpful. Breakfast were lovely and the house was spotless and beautiful. The ambience was wonderful and the service was very personal. Breakfast was relaxed and extremely well served. The views of the Loch and the Mountains was tremendous, the setting was ideal, like sitting looking at a beautiful mural. A very relaxing stay, no noise, no disturbance. Fabulous.

Friendliness of staff (owners), view of the loch, quality of breakfast

The shower was poor, tepid at best. Shame because the rest of the bathroom facilties were excellent.

It's one of the most beautiful an wonderfull places where i've been. Super romantic guest house with incredible views, a very very cude furniture. I recommend it 100 %. no comparation with other guest house that we have visited in tarbet, those are like being in 1800 and Tarbet Guest House is being in 2050

Paula made us feel very welcome, met us at the door and offered coffee/cold drink before showing us to our room. Views breathtaking Room was more like a small flat, bedroom, bathroom and sitting room with balcony, very nice. Lovely evening meal at the Ben Lomand just round the cornor.

Very friendly welcome and a beautiful view and grounds. Very well positioned for exploring that area of Scotland. The room was spacious with a big bed and a sitting area. Shower and bath. Tea making facilities.
