Just outside of Nijmegen, in the delightful village of Ooij, is Hotel-Restaurant De Gelderse Poort. This charming and comfortable hotel is the perfect place to start your discovery of the Gelderse Poort.
The Gelderse Poort is a unique nature reserve between Arnhem, Nijmegen and Emmerich where you can walk or cycle for hours through unspoilt and varied surroundings. For example, along the Waal river, the famous Ooij polder and the Millingerwaard, all beautiful areas where you can relax. And your enjoyment of the outdoors begins in the morning when you are woken by the sound of a rooster!

Hotel-Restaurant De Gelderse Poort offers you all of the comfort and facilities for a relaxing and enjoyable stay. The charming restaurant (kitchen open until 20:00) serves a wide range of delicious dishes, something for everyone’s taste.
You can enjoy the sun on the outdoor patio. From the terrace you have a magnificent view of the surroundings, the unique lateral moraines and the Reichswald (forest).
This hotel is also suitable for guests with a handicap. The entire hotel is threshold-free and there is a large lift. The rooms are also threshold-free and all have spacious bathrooms with a raised toilet and a shower with anti-slip tiles.

The tastefully decorated rooms are spacious and furnished with two single beds that can be placed apart or next to each other according to your wishes, a desk, a sitting area, television and telephone. There is also a wake-up service. The spacious bathrooms are fitted with a raised toilet and a shower with anti-slip tiles.

Area information

The Gelderse Poort is a unique nature reserve near Nijmegen with river dunes, herds of grazing animals, flower-filled meadows and woods where beavers can be found. Infinite enjoyment in unspoilt nature and perfect for cycling trips on any number of attractive cycling paths through this unspoilt area.
The Gelderse Poort is also ideal for walking. This beautiful nature reserve was developed together with the World Nature Fund, and continuous supervision ensures that its original characters is preserved. Because of this, you can enjoy walks through the Millingerwaard, Bizonbaai, Klompenwaard and Loowaard, areas in which you can even leave the paths and enter the wild heart of the Gelderse Poort.
But you can also relax outside of the Gelderse Poort. With Nijmegen, Arnhem, Germany and various museums and tourist sights so close by, this area is perfect for daytrips.

No maps of the area at the hotel reception, but they printed a map from

very helpful and accomodating staff, quiet location

nothing we didn't like, but it is difficult to find and the restaurant closes at 8 pm, so if you are arriving late it's a little challengin

Een heerlijk hotel waar ook de gewone man zich eigenlijk meteen thuis voelt - laagdrempelig, maar je voelt je wel meteen uit.
