Built in 1398, this establishment has been a coaching inn for over 500 years, and is best described as a historic but refurbished pub with bedrooms.

The hotel still retains much of its historic character and charm including inglenook fireplaces, sloping floors and a wealth of original oak beams. Since being refurbished in October 2006, the hotel now offers a wonderful blend of both the old and the new under one roof.

Leather sofas and coffee tables lend a sophisticated yet homely and relaxed feel to the main bars, whilst each bedroom has its own individuality and offers most of the modern conveniences required by guests. The unique restaurant offers a wide range of both traditional and exciting dishes, and represents excellent value for money.

A lively high street venue, The Bull Hotel offers live sports in the main bars and live music every Friday and Saturday night. Rooms can be noisy on these nights until midnight.

The service provided by Mr. Heap and his staff was excellent. They truly appeared to be anxious to provide a cheerful, profficient and caring service. Every request was catered for even though problems with the external 'phone service was obviously causing some disruption. We would certainly stay there again

Pleasant freindly atmosphere - very good pillows

the bed was huge and really comfortable. the staff were friendly. good choice and quality of food. loads of character in the hotel.

the window of our bedroom looked out onto the main street and didnt have nets - it was quite big and passers by and the cafe opposite could see straight in. the hotel was on a main road and the traffic noise meant we couldn't open our window to cool our room at night

Location

Dirty carpets, broken towel rail, noisy pump came on every time a room used a tap, not enough towels in the room (1 bath sheet and 1 had towel) and didn't get ant when requested, shower didn't fit to the watt, no shower curtain, burnt toast for breakfast

The staff were very friendly & the food was excellent.

The bathroom had not been cleaned & the bed was in need of a new matress
as the springs were coming through it!

Bathroom hosts an unpleasant drain smell which I could not have tolerated in excess of our 1 night stay.

The food was terrific, great value for money, lovely location, and
contrary to previous comments - there is a car park!

Some staff were V.unfriendly, bathrooms dated with no shower curtain and
no frosted glass/curtains over window!
