Pleasant surroundings Hotel needs fully refurbishing buckets catching rain Double bedroom very small, over the kitchen, food smells in the bedroom all the time. Very noisy until 11pm when the kitchen possibly closed. Hair dryer did not work Did provide a handheld one. Burnt toast with a poached egg. No price written on the evening meal menu so we chose to eat out as did not want 4 courses All in all very poor value. |

Staff were very friendly and there was plenty of them which is always good better to be over staffed than under. Felt like we were staying in a holiday home rather than a swanky hotel which was what we were expecting. The rooms desperately need updating. |

Overall, we enjoyed our stay at the Hackness and found the food, accommodation very good and the overall atmosphere very relaxing. TV and radio didn't work properly, although we didn't anticipate spending too much time in our room. Also, it would be beneficial if the prices of drinks, packed lunches, dinners etc could be displayed. |

Location. Environment. Pool. Catering was terrible. Service at breakfast unorganised. Many guests complaining to each other. Evening meal was not edible! Offered alternative but that was also terrible. Frozen fish and oven chips for £25 ! |

Lovely location in the North York Moors We did not have dinner in the hotel as it was was expensive at £25 each plus supplements for some dishes and coffee. Breakfast was good but the hotel was very short staffed. |
